Doc Martens

Thank you Geum Jandi for bringing DMs back!!

Bought mine online. I saw a DMs store in SM North (The Block) and somewhere in Shaw but their styles and sizes are very very limited in stock. If you really want variety, fly to Singapore (Orchard Central) or HongKong (Mongkok).

This is us, one DMs Friday.

Cool eh? I'd like to get my hands on a shimmering purple pair someday.

Chapel of St. Francis Xavier, Macau

If you're a kdrama addict, while you're in Macau, take time to visit St. Francis Xavier Chapel in Coloane for a Princess Hours sidetrip.

This was where Chaekyeong (Janelle) and Shin (Gian) got married in the last episode.

Boys Over Flowers - Other Macau Sites

These other Macau sites were featured during Jandi and Jihoo's date:

Ruins of St. Paul

Monte Forte - on your right side when facing the ruins of St. Paul; beware of the hike

Egg Pie Shop - walk down from Ruins of St. Paul and follow the street (leading to Largo de Senado, actually), it'll be on your right side; this shop plays the BOF Macau scenes on it's TV screen nonstop

Largo de Senado - I love the tiled floors!! This place has so much character, snap away!

There were other shooting locations I wasn't able to visit due to the weather (I went there July last year). These four are the most convenient though since they can be found on one area.

Boys Over Flowers - Shinwa Hotel

I never really watched Meteor Garden but I loved Boys Over Flowers. Loved as in I even went to Macau because going back to Korea would be more expensive and flying to Macau was more practical (being nearer to Manila).

First stop: Venetian Macao aka Shinwa Hotel.

From the airport or ferry terminal, you can take the Venetian shuttle bus for free. Just ask for directions from the information counters where the buses are located. Last time I went to Macau, they relocated the bus terminals for the Macau Grand Prix.. wasted precious time.

Anywho, here are the must-visit spots in Venetian for a BOF addict:

Hotel main lobby - where Jandi and Jihoo were spotted by the former's gay friend

Hotel grounds outside the west lobby - where Jandi entered the hotel and where she, along with the remaining 3 flower guys, played hide and seek; it's near the shuttle bus terminal so if you're going there by bus, you won't miss it

Floor above Bar Florian - where Jun Pyo oversees ho
tel and casino operations; go to the casino area and you'll find Bar Florian in the middle, it's the only bar in that area with the curved escalators

Grado Mini Golf - yes, the scene where Jun Pyo was playing golf was actually shot inside the humongous hotel; go to 7th floor of the hotel south suites (open for in-house guests only), there's a fee if you want to play but picture taking is for free

The Qube - remember the scene with slides and balls during Jandi
and Jihoo's date? I think they have an age limit for admission though; go to 5th floor of the hotel south suites

Poolside - where Jihoo asked Jun Pyo to meet Jandi; also
on the 5th floor of the hotel south suites

St. Mark's Square - hmm.. a lot of scenes were shot here.. the most memorable would be the heartbreaking moment between Jun Pyo and Jandi; there are actually many bridges in that area but if you want the specific bridge where the two met, it's the one near Mango

So there, enjoy your stay at the Venetian Macao! I actually found my stay rather entertaining because of BOF. Be sure to clear your camera's memory card before going.

PS. I found out a former college classmate was voicing Goo Jun Pyo. Wow.

Princess Hours

During the trip, I also visited some palaces. This I also enjoyed because of Princess Hours (I love love love the costumes!!). You see, after I marathoned watching Coffee Prince, I downloaded Yoon Eun Hye's other drama. My cousin told me that ABS-CBN already aired this. Yea, I'm a late k-addict bloomer.

Moving on.. if you want your picture taken wearing a hanbok, go to Gyeongbokgung. The photo stall is by the entrance and by the time you're done touring the huge palace grounds, you can claim your picture at the exit.

This is me being curious about my hanbok. Haha.

Starbucks at Insadong

Not straying far from coffee, it was interesting to see this in Insadong.

Insadong is very much like our cobblestoned Calle Crisologo in Vigan. It pretty much showcases Korean history and culture. So imagine how the people reacted when the government approved the opening of a foreign coffee shop in that same street. As a compromise, Starbucks agreed to write the store's name in Hangeul - a first in Starbuck's history.

Coffee Prince

It all began when I watched Coffee Prince.

I loved Yoon Eun Hye, I loved Gong Yoo, I loved everything about that show. Oh let me correct myself, I STILL love everything about that show. Even the music, I love. I swear, I have every song used on that drama on my ipod (thank you dramabeans).

So one summer a few years back, I went to Korea and visited Coffee Prince.. yes it's a real coffee shop. You can get directions from this site as well as other shooting locations of famous kdramas.

Coffee was a bit expensive and it tasted nothing special. You're paying for the location actually. You can take all the pictures you want, feel free to snap away - some Koreans just leave after having their pictures taken without even ordering anything.

I bought two Coffee Prince mugs, one for my cousin and one for me.

I wanted to buy the Coffee Prince shirt the cast wore during last episode of filming but they weren't selling any.

I found one shirt on display though.

Anywho, before leaving, the cashier gave me these postcards for free. Yey.

I would love to visit the place again when I go back to Korea. I hope they're still in business.

Hello World

Some wise person told me to start a blog on my Korean obsession.. so finally, here I am, blogging. My friends would never in a million years imagine I would put up a blog. So I'm actually excited to do this.

Here goes whatever.
